SF2 Choco FC 2-3 Arewa FC (3-4 on Aggregate) goals galore as Arewa claimed hard fought victory

Arewa FC moved on to the finals of the 18 man squad tournament as they claimed a huge 3-2 victory after going a man down against Choco FC.

The opening goal came from Jeffrey whose deflected free kick left Keshi wrong footed as he couldn’t get proper hold of the ball costing them the opener.

Not long after, they doubled their lead as Jeffrey grabbed his second of the game with another free kick which proved too much for the goalkeeper to handle as the strike nestled into the top corner after a brilliant effort by the Arewa winger.

Choco made it 2-1 immediately as Fernando scored from halfway with a bit of luck as the ball hit the turf and went past the goalkeeper to give the team in blue a fighting chance.

In the second period, there was an altercation between Sourou of Arewa and Paul of Choco after a foul tempers flared between the two. The altercation lead to the sending of of Sourou who swung his head towards Paul in a violent manner with the referee who is of the no nonsense type, having none of it.Thereafter, it was all Choco as they pushed for the goals they needed.

They were eventually rewarded for their efforts as Fernando converted a Samad cross from close range to level the score in the match.

Interestingly enough, Fernando was the only player with his shooting boots on for Choco FC as all of their shots on target were taken by him.

Arewa tried to hold on and play on the counter but kept getting pegged back by Choco until lady luck smiled on Arewa for their third goal.

A punt upfield by the Arewa goalkeeper Chrixt bounced off the field and into the net beating Keshi who already had his hands out to pick the ball.

At the end it was Arewa FC who progressed to the finals and will face Agblangadan in what will be a very exiting fixture to end what has been an enthralling competition.
