Liverpool Submit Shock Transfer Offer To Sign Spain International
Liverpool have tabled an offer to sign Athletic Bilbao star Iker Muniain, according to reports in Spain.
Muniain has scored 51 goals in 357 appearances for Athletic since his first-team debut back in 2009 but the 25-year-old forward is being heavily linked with a move away from the San Mames Stadium.
The Spain international is out of contract at the end of the season and Liverpool are battling it out with a number of clubs to land him on a free transfer.
Marca suggests that Liverpool have already made an approach to bring Muniain to Anfield next summer. It’s claimed Serie A giants Napoli have also submitted an offer for the highly-rated winger.
Muniain is in preliminary discussions with Athletic over a potential new deal but an agreement is yet to be reached between the two parties.
Liverpool signed Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, but missed out on the signing of Jurgen Klopp’s number one target, Nabil Fekir. Muniain is being eyed as a possible alternative to the Lyon forward.
