Match Report G1: All Stars FC 0-1 Obenne FC

The 5090 green tournament raised it’s curtains today with a match between All Stars FC and Obenne FC.

It was a hard fought match between the two teams but Obenne came away with the crucial 3 points to give themselves an early advantage in a tough group.

All stars FC were the most imposing amongst the two teams as they showed more poise and drive in the game especially in the first half as they created chance after chance to no avail due to the constant heroics of the Obenne FC backman.

Their striker Israel was in the fat of things as he always looked to shoot on sight and move the ball forward along with Hart and Lawrence who were very good supporting their striker.

In the second half they’re were two penalty shouts which were given for both sides for similar handball offences but neither one was converted as Israel and Warri both shot wide for All stars and Obenne respectively.

Towards the end, Israel had a huge chance to open the scoring after a steal and breakaway by Hart who fed him a through pass but the striker couldn’t convert from close range.

Ten minutes from time, Obenne got the opener against the run of play when Florente converted from close rang after he was played through on goal after a steal by Warri.

The All stars efforts to retrieve the game came to naught as the referee’s final whistle brought an end to what was a really tight and physical spectacle which ended with Obenne FC running out victorious.
