Why Fabinho Could Be The Bargain Of The Summer
It might be too early to say in the transfer window but Liverpool’s confirmation of AS Monaco midfielder Fabinho might be the best deal any team could have done this summer and for forty odd million too (kinda like Matic for Man United last year)

As a midfielder, he is just what the Reds needed to replace Emre Can and here’s why.
At 6’2 Fabinho towers over Liverpool’s defensive midfielders and has an average of 2.9 aerial duels won per game compared to Jordan Henderson’s 1 per game and Emre Can’s 1.1 a game. Virgil Van Dijk and Dejan Lovern are the only two players with a better average than the Brazilian.
His ability to win headers will be really important for Liverpool considering he’ll be playing alongside Naby Keita next season.
Fabinho excels as a ball winner who has a good timing of the tackle. He averaged 3.4 tackles per game which beats Can’s 2.6 and Henderson’s 1.9. He has a higher tackle average per game than all Liverpool players currently.
Fabinho is just not a ball winner, he is also an intelligent player who knows how to pick a pass, especially of the long variety. With a passing accuracy of 86.3%, he has a better rate than Henderson and Can in the holding midfield position. His average of slightly over a key pass a game from defensive midfield is higher than the other Defensive Midfielders in the squad.
Tall, strong, good in the air, versatile, great with the ball at his feet and also quick. Elements that can potentially make Fabinho the best thing in a Liverpool shirt since Mascherano at defensive midfield. The perfect replacement for the imminently departing Emre Can.
The reds might be unto something next season but only time will tell.
